Rotary Switch
grabcad
A 2-pole rotary switch is presented for a shockproof 230V~/50Hz socket, commonly used across Europe. Functioning as an adapter between the power outlet and electrical load, it allows direct connection and disconnection without device switching. The copper contact springs (4) are depicted in assembled form; geometry calculation determines exact manufactured dimensions. A possible FEM analysis may be conducted for contact force assessment. The rotary switch is illustrated in its closed position, with a 60-degree rotation angle for on/off switching. Designed to handle a maximum current of 16A, the plastic parts must be electrically insulated, such as ABS. Be cautious when using this model for 3D printing, ensuring proper assembly like shown in the design. The rotary switch concept simplifies external on/off control of electrical devices. Precise dimensions were meticulously measured for accurate modeling resembling the original product. KeyShot 4.0 animation demonstrates switching action, and models are available in STEP (stp), PTC Creo Parametric 2.0 (prt, asm), and zipped formats.
