Rotary Grip Paddle/Tool Holder - TPU/PETG

Inspired by my Yakattack rotogrip paddle holder, I designed a custom printable version to meet my needs. This design does not replace the exceptionally durable gear from Yakattack, but it serves as a creative solution for storing paddles on kayak storage racks. I highly recommend that kayakers check out yakattack.us for high-quality kayak accessories. While I am not affiliated with them, I appreciate their products. I printed this PETG base and Sainsmart TPU wheels (semiflex) to ensure durability. The required bolts are 4-40 x 1 1/2" (M3 x 40 will also work). Simply pass the bolt through the base and wheel, then secure it with a nylock nut on the other side. Leave the nut loose enough to allow the base to move freely without hindering the wheel's rotation. To achieve maximum strength, print the base upright with internal support material. Significant outward force is generated when placing a paddle in the holder. In my initial design, the wheels were too hard and caused the base to shear across the layer lines (no delamination), demonstrating the substantial force involved. Happy printing leads to happy paddling, so get ready to set sail with tight lines!
