Rotary Encoder button
thingiverse
This is an enclosure for a small rotary encoder control. It houses a rotary encoder, a small LIPO battery, and an ESP8266-12F module, with slots for an on/off switch and a recharging point. Designed to provide a compact remote controller for various applications like light dimmers or volume controls. The software available at https://github.com/roberttidey/RotaryEncoderButton leverages the deep sleep functionality of the ESP8266 to keep battery current extremely low until it is activated by control rotation and then times out after inactivity. A schematic illustrates how it is wired up. A config file allows users to set up actions, including simple web access, MQTT reporting, and controlling a Lightwaverf lamp dimmer via a Lightwaverf link.
