Rotary adapter for laser engraver
thingiverse
Designed to replace the y axis on my homebrew CNC/laser, but will work with other machines that use Nema 17 steppers. This adapter is 200 mm long, and can accommodate cylinders approximately 180 mm tall. Space between rollers is approximately 50 mm. Print the base in PETG or PLA (or other rigid filament), and 4 of the rollers in TPU or other soft filament. Other parts needed: - Nema 17 stepper and M3 screws to mount to adapter - Two 240 mm long 8 mm lead screws (or other 8mm wide dowels) - Four 608 bearings (8x22x7) for the axels - Closed loop GT2 timing belt and pulleys (one 20 tooth pulley with 5mm center hole, 60 tooth pulley with 8mm center hole, 200 mm long belt) - Two additional 20 tooth pulleys with 8mm holes and 200 mm belt to synchronize the axles, and an additional 20 tooth pully for use as a tensioner for the sync belt - short M8 bolt and nut to use for tensioner pulley Once you print and assemble the adapter, hook up the Nema 17 stepper to your CNC/laser's Y port and calibrate your new steps/mm. Note that if you're engraving a cylinder this works well as it is, but if you are engraving an item with slanted sides you will need to shim up once side of the adapter.
