Roswell - Antarian Glyph Pendant
thingiverse
I'm a big fan of the original Roswell TV series (also known as Roswell High) that debuted in 1999. I recently traveled through Roswell, NM and was inspired to re-watch the series and do a 3D project to commemorate it. I decided to create a Antarian pendant that is similar (not broken) to the one seen in the show. I wanted it to have a shiny glass look and tried painting and fingernail polish but none worked well for me. So, I lightly sanded all the parts and once assembled I sprayed it with several coats of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X clear gloss. This gave me the shiny "glass" look I wanted. The inlay recess is slightly larger than the glyph and the glyph pieces should pretty much snap in place with very little sanding (mostly to break the sharp edges). I used silver and black PLA filament and assembled with super glue. If making this as a piece of jewelry I would recommend using the finest resolution your printer can print. A leather chain is recommended and can be found at any craft store. Enjoy! Tips: The triangular part of the glyph only fits one way so before lifting it off the print bed use a black felt pen to mark the edge in one of the corners so you can keep it correctly oriented. Mark low as the glyph is raised 1mm from the black surface of the pendant. Also, the use of non-marring needle nose pliers are helpful in snapping the glyph pieces into place. It's a snug fit but that's by design. You only need to glue the outer ring to the pendant base. The glyph pieces fit tightly enough that they don't need to be glued. There is a new version of the series called "Roswell, New Mexico". Same theme as the original but with different actors.
