This redesigned Rostock 3D printer, a senior project in college, has evolved into the sturdy and larger Rostrong. Boasting a build area of up to 14"x14", this printer features a delta arm configuration that swiftly constructs large objects. Constructed with makerslide and misumi 2040 extrusions, it offers varying build heights depending on the selected makerslide length, ranging from 7" to an impressive 38". Every component can be sourced online or printed, eliminating the need for woodworking. Only four websites are required for procurement and approximately 4 pounds of PLA plastic are needed for printing. However, this printer is still a work-in-progress with unrefined features like an unsatisfactory heated bed situation and incompatibility with textured filaments. Despite these limitations, Rostrong stands out as the go-to choice for large-scale printing projects. Inspired by the original Rostock, it utilizes elements from Thingiverse designs (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:17175) and a slightly modified file (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:48716). Instructions are forthcoming upon request, with source files primarily in .f3d format, compatible with Autodesk Inventor Fusion on Mac (unsure about Windows compatibility), and includes openSCAD files for the extruder and end effector. The firmware is preloaded with appropriate values based on Rostrong's size, derived from May 2013 Deltabot Marlin firmware.
