This Rostock printer variant features Johann's original design with these changes: braid fishing line for main axis drives, threaded drive pulleys to prevent tangles, a planetary gearbox on the extruder, and a custom Bowden hot-end holder. The braid replaced hard-to-source GT2 timing belts, suggested by a friend as an affordable alternative that proved effective. "Spectra Extreme Braid" 0.48mm line was used with approximately 2.5m for each axis; cable ties were used to tension the lines. Custom drive and v-groove pulleys were printed for the braid driver, requiring three of each. An Airtripper bowden extruder v3 was printed, along with Ellindsey's extruder motor planetary gearbox, which was mounted through a plywood frame cutout. A custom hot-end holder was designed for a 1.75mm Makergear hot-end, clamping the PTFE tube using a 4mm nut. All plastic parts were printed in PLA, while the hot-end holder in ABS withstood heat from ABS printing. Improvements include redesigning the braid drive pulley with more facets to eliminate flicker and potentially reducing diameter for higher resolution. Adding filament guides is also suggested.
