I desired to create an alternative fan mount for my PEEK fan, using inexpensive VGA fans I had purchased in bulk. To achieve this, I redesigned the fan holder in openSCAD, although the design is somewhat improvised and not yet customizable. The new design features tapped holes for easy fan installation. While ABS may not hold screw threads as effectively as PLA, I haven't tested it. Since it hasn't been mounted or tested on an actual setup yet, it remains a work in progress. To assemble this fan holder with VGA fans, print the design and drill holes to approximately 2.6mm (2.5mm or #37-#39 drill bits should suffice). Tap the holes using M3x.5 screws, which also need to be drilled in the VGA fan. For optimum fit, use screws around 10mm long. The mounting hole can either be tapped or drilled based on preference; however, due to its thinness, a washer and locknut are recommended for proper installation. For VGA fans similar to the one I used: amazon link. When tapping PLA, it's crucial to proceed slowly, use cutting oil, and back out fully to clear chips whenever resistance is encountered. Failing to do so may cause local heating and compromise the threading. This fan holder design would work without drilling if you have M2.5 hardware available but I didn't have any on hand.
