Rostock Max v2 Layer Fan Mount
thingiverse
1/12/17: I designed a new lower-profile fan mount to work seamlessly with this e3dv6 mount: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1064131 This is a streamlined layer fan that keeps the fan close to the hot end platform because the stock layer fan mount obstructed my enclosure. No hardware is required; simply slide it over a hot end platform tab. I have an E3Dv6 on my printer, and it protrudes about 5/8" below the platform tabs. My design places the mount 1/2" below the tab at a 20° angle to the hot end, ensuring a smooth airflow stream. To maintain optimal performance, I keep the fan at 80% speed to prevent excessive air flow from interfering with the nozzle's temperature. A step file is included for anyone who wants to modify it according to their specific setup. Print Settings Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC Printer: Rostock MAX Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.25mm Infill: 25% Notes: I highly recommend printing with ABS, and due to shrinkage, I had to scale the model up to 102%. I printed it as is, using supports only inside the fan pocket and the overhang. For the interior cavity, I chose not to use supports since they would have been difficult to remove. If you prefer a more compact print, you can try printing it on its side and bridging over the cavity; however, the fan pocket will still require support.
