Rostock Max V2 - 713Maker Mount Nozzle Cooling
thingiverse
Design Inspiration While working on switching to a Prometheus V2 hotend and a 713Maker mount, I wanted to see about creating a more compact print cooling solution. Hanging fans off the effector plate always seemed like an awkward place due to additional weight as well as limiting printable space if you run an enclosure like I do. I noticed that there was potentially a place to route an air stream through the effector plate and to nozzles that point precisely where cooling needs to happen. This is my attempt to make this happen. Updates I decided to try a large main tube (14mm OD/10mm ID) and found that the original splitter design allowed undesirable folding over of the various tubes. I had also moved to using FSRs instead of the accelerometer for bed sensing and now had a bit more space. After picking up some new skills with three-dimensional spline modeling in Fusion 360, I came up with a hard mount for the large diameter tubing. This seems to work pretty well, but now I think the small fan I picked up for this project may be inadequate for the amount of air it is possible to send through this cooling implementation. Design Goals Uni-directional cooling Extremely low profile Minimal additional weight Focused airflow with the intention of minimizing. Similar concept to the Berd Air product. Cooler air from outside the enclosure to maximize effects of the air An elegant solution that requires little to no modifications to the printer Printer Modifications For a stock SeeMeCNC hotend and mount, the cooling nozzles conflict with the PEEK fan shroud as recommended as part of the default V2 build. They fit on the effector plate just fine, but hit where the fan shroud wraps around the effector plate posts. This isn't a problem with the Prometheus hotend on the 713Maker mount and I haven't had time to modify the cooling nozzle. Things To-Do This needs more airflow. I think a larger main tube before splitting out to the separate nozzles would solve this. Improvements on the air flow through the nozzle body and at the end itself. I think it could spread out more than it does now for better coverage. Better mounting solution for the fan. Right now it sits up on top of the printer loose. Also, there is definite leaking at the fan hose adapter. Print Settings Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC Printer: Rostock MAX Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: .2mm layer height, .4mm nozzle Infill: Doesn't matter Notes: All these pieces print with no support. Minimal cleanup with only a little attention to be paid to ensure the nozzles press fully on to the effector plate to allow clearance for the arms.
