Rostock MAX top mount spool holder
thingiverse
This Rostock MAX spool holder features a low profile top mount design that minimizes torque loss from the extruder while spinning the spool. The parts require MR105ZZ bearings, a 30mm M3 screw, two M3 nuts, and three M3 washers. Print all plastic components along with three bearing pins and keepers. Secure the bearings in the round spool plate using the bearing pins or screws, then attach the spool holder to the top plate with a 30mm M3 socket cap screw, an M3 washer above the holder, an M3 nut, and another M3 washer. Adjust the nut's position for a slight "play" so that the spool can spin freely. Finally, secure the top plate with a washer and nut but avoid over-tightening to prevent damaging the melamine. The "spool_hub_base" snaps into the round spool holder, while the "toner_plastics_spool_center" screws onto the hub. If necessary, modify the center's diameter in the provided .scad file and reprint it to fit your specific spool.
