Rostock Max Concentric Fan Shroud
thingiverse
Hi All, I saw most of the aftermarket fan shroud designs on here required multiple fans to function, which is okay, but not ideal. So I sought to solve the issue. VOALA, concentric fan shroud. It's designed directly from the original layer fan and modified to fit around the heating block on the PEEK extruder that the Rostock MAX comes with. I've been using it for a while, and it works well. Happy printing. Print Settings Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC Printer: Rostock MAX Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Infill: None Notes: Generally, I use ABS. Extruder: 230 Celsius Bed: 90 Celsius. Use a towel to cover the plate to decrease preheat time. Be sure to remove while the extruder is moving down to the bed. It does not require layer cooling, but if you want to, go for it. Post-Printing CAUTION: You'll most likely have to turn up your layer fan speed slightly to account for the concentric design and restricted air flow. Mine jumped from 14% to 40%. The fan is still inaudible, but it seemed pertinent to include the information. How I Designed This I use AutoDesk as an undergraduate engineer. I imported the stock layer fan into Inventor, then created a sketch of exact dimensions of the part. From there it was trial and error to find the right shape and size; four iterations later, I have a functional part.
