rorary encoder for lead ball screw 1204, 80 slits
thingiverse
This encoder is designed as part of an at-home built CNC system using GRBL, intended to track axis rotation, primarily the Y-axis. I opted for 80 slits, making calculations simpler under standard stepper rotation conditions. I plan on utilizing two such encoders in the Y-axis, coupled with 1204 lead ball screws and NEMA 23 steppers. The encoder bore is perfectly compatible with a 1204 screw, while an M3 screw is provided to secure this mounting firmly, though it's rarely necessary. Occasionally, I experience a slight coupler drift, leading me to consider measuring the rotation of each lead screw individually and comparing the results. If any discrepancy arises, the controller will send a terminal switch alarm signal to the GRBL Arduino MEGA, prompting the CNC machine to halt without sustaining damage. To achieve this, I'll be employing the Motor Encoder RPM Speed Counter Interrupter Sensor Module FC-03 to count steps accurately.
