The beholder, shattered on the ground, has yielded a key that unlocks the gate to the mysterious depths below. Hours of navigating down a slimy, musky spiral causeway finally lead you into a vast cavern with a low-hanging ceiling. Countless stalactites slowly make their way towards the cavern floor as the sound of dripping water echoes through the air. You decide to search for a fresh source, and several feet into the cavern, your thief vanishes from sight. The party comes to an abrupt halt as the mage casts another orb of light. A shrill screech pierces the air followed by a sudden thud as the thief crashes to the ground. Several tentacles lash out at the light emanating from a nearby stalactite, and that's when you hear your thief's terrified yell: "Watch out! There are Ropers on the ceiling!"
