Rope Pull Handle - Pull Start Handle
thingiverse
I recently installed an attic pull-down ladder that came with a flimsy pull handle which I decided needed an upgrade. I designed this beefier pull handle to replace the original one, making it more durable and reliable. The rope for the ladder feeds through the middle of the handle and is tied into a knot that gets trapped inside the tapered hole in the center of the handle. This sturdy handle can be used for other rope pull applications like starting a lawn mower's gas engine or operating a pole-type tree trimmer. I recommend printing this handle in ABS at 50% density or better to ensure its strength and durability. It should be printed with supports in the orientation provided, as it will need them to hold its shape. I used para-cord for my rope, which fits perfectly through the hole and a single knot can easily fit inside the tapered hole in the handle. To prevent fraying, I suggest sealing the ends of the rope by heating it with a lighter or a flame source.
