Rooster Sponge Holder

Rooster Sponge Holder

I'm planning to 3D print a gift for my mother-in-law's kitchen, which features a chicken theme. Since I wanted something semi-practical, I came up with the idea of creating a rooster-shaped holder for her sponge. This rooster design has a slot that perfectly fits a commonly used sponge (20mm x 70mm) and includes drainage to prevent excess water from accumulating inside. The water will simply flow out through the rooster's mouth. However, I still need to print this design, and it might require supports for the head and tail areas. I've uploaded two versions: one is a smaller "Mohawk" version, while the other is a larger holder that holds the sponge width-wise. I recently updated my approach after starting a print of this model. My printer has some wiggle room on taller prints, so I decided to split the model in half and create separate legs to avoid any potential issues with supports or leg breakage. This way, I can glue the halves and legs together for the final piece, which will significantly reduce the number of supports required. I've also tried cutting the design in half without legs, but it didn't produce the perfect seam I was looking for. Now, I'm experimenting with a faux support under the beak to see if that works better.
