Roomba cliff sensor cover

A quick fix for anxious Roombas: a solution to prevent them from falling down stairs or off balconies. The sensor cover is designed to shield the device's sensors, which often mistake dark carpets or rugs for endless voids. This results in neglected areas and un-vacuumed spots on your floors. If you have dark-colored carpets, no drop-offs, and a willingness to experiment, this DIY solution might be perfect for you! However, if you have stairs or balconies, it's best to find an alternative solution or Roomba-proof them first. This design has been refined through trial and error, but the result is a practical solution. Our robot is an iRobot Roomba 880, but other models with similar sensors can also benefit from this fix. We recommend using shiny filaments that reflect light back onto the sensor, such as white PLA, for optimal results. The model may require some support while printing, so be sure to adjust your settings accordingly. After printing, sand and cut the cover to ensure a snug fit. Feel free to modify and remix this design to create a better fit or adapt it to other robot models. Make it sleek, sturdy, or anything in between!
