A Quick Fix for Anxious Roombas: Covering Sensors with Style Introducing a clever solution to prevent your robot from taking a tumble down the stairs or off balconies. This nifty accessory is designed to shield the sensors that usually keep your Roomba safe, but often get confused by dark carpets or rugs, leaving them untouched. Remix this design for flexible filaments or other robot models, and make it either sleek and stylish or tough as nails! The current model is a bit of a mess, hastily created while falling asleep, but we've already produced seven prototypes that prove it prints well. We sliced the model using Cura, so you may get different results with other slicers. Please feel free to remix this design and share your improvements. We'll continue working on it when time permits. For now, our iRobot Roomba 880 is good as new, but we still need to tweak and clean up the model. Our goal is a snap-fit design with a smooth underside. In the meantime, we recommend using shiny, bright filaments that reflect light back at the sensor, making white PLA an excellent choice. You may need to add support during printing, and sand or cut it to perfection afterwards.
