Roomba 500Series Side brush gear
thingiverse
After 48 months of non-stop hard work, my trusty side brush finally gave up the ghost, refusing to turn anymore. After meticulously analyzing the issue, it turned out that the middle gear of my side brush module had neglected its regular dental checkup, resulting in a toothless grin...literally. Since I'm not exactly thrilled about getting my hands dirty with cleaning, I decided to fire up Blender and design some brand new gears from scratch. And just like that, 15 minutes later, my Roomba was good as new! **Print Settings** * Printer Brand: RepRap * Printer: Prusa i3 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.16 * Infill: 100% * Notes: I highly recommend printing in nylon for increased durability. **Post-Printing** It took a bit of extra effort to re-drill the hole with a 2.1mm drill, but it was worth it in the end. A minor sanding session on the lower side was also necessary to smooth out the edges. **How I Designed This** In Blender, I created two custom gears with 10 and 42 teeth respectively, ready to get back to work keeping my Roomba spotless.
