Roof Screw Spacer

I recently addressed a minor repair that effectively resolved my leaking hard top issue. The source of the leak was located at the passenger door, a common problem area where standard sealing strips and other fixes proved ineffective. On multiple occasions, I had temporarily halted the leakage by tightening the two roof screws, but this approach ultimately lost its potency as time passed. Furthermore, when I tightened the screws, they no longer exhibited their characteristic soft, squishy feel; instead, they turned in a stiff, mechanical manner, indicating that the screw threads were bottoming out and failing to compress the seal properly. To rectify this situation, I fabricated two 4mm-thick spacers to be installed beneath the screw heads. Following their installation, the screws once again exhibited their familiar soft feel when tightened, suggesting that the seals were being effectively compressed. During the initial days after the repair, I needed to re-tighten the screws several times before the leak was finally eradicated. While using large diameter washers could be an alternative solution, it seemed unnecessary in this particular instance.
