In Romania, at the summit of the Bucegi Mountains' plateau, situated 2,216 metres (7,270 ft) above sea level, an intriguing stone monument comes into view. Uncommonly large stones protrude from the ground in this area, but a few notable exceptions stand out. They claim it's "a natural rock formation," yet I assert that nature wouldn't replicate such precise proportions of a human head, possibly Neanderthal in origin. The distance between eyes, eye placement, nose, mouth, jaw alignment, and teeth – meticulously carved into the rock's surface upon close inspection – all adhere to anatomical accuracy and closely resemble those of a Neanderthal. It's up to you to decide: either nature has a peculiar affinity for these exact proportions or it's an artificial monument commemorating the end of the Ice Age atop the Bucegi Plateau, the highest mountain tundra in the region.
