romanesco - fractal vegetable
pinshape
Practice in OpenSCAD, creating a 3D fractal modeled after the "romanesco" vegetable's intricate patterns. Calculated using OpenSCAD on February 5th, 2015, scaled to half size and adjusted for optimal placement on a 3D printer bed with Blender. Meshlab ensured a seamless manifold structure. The included OpenSCAD script, a pseudo-fractal (dimension 3) model, was designed for a minimum radius of 1mm trihedra using Mindraw. However, be cautious: the rendering process took an astonishing 40 hours on a Core i7 2.9GHz processor with 40GB of virtual memory allocated. Additionally, slicing required 3 hours with XYZware, and printing took an impressive 27 hours at 0.1mm/s speed using the Da Vinci 2.0 printer.
