Roman Marble Torso or Achilles
myminifactory
A Roman marble torso depicting Achilles advances on his left leg, his right arm thrust forward as he holds the body of Penthesileia. The Greek original from the Hellenistic period shows him wearing a chlamys that falls from his left shoulder and a decorated baldric with a sheath, adorned with relief carvings of a scrolling vine; former restorations have been carefully removed to reveal its original beauty.
