I made a detailed model of a Roman Imperial legionary shield, called a "scutum," for use in the Medieval Engineers game / software. The curved-front scutum was essential equipment for Roman legionaries from 1st Century BC to early 3rd Century AD due to its unique ability to serve as both defense and offense when needed. Constructed from multiple thin wooden planks, it's lightweight yet strong enough to withstand impact, painted with various patterns found on Trajan's Column, and features a sturdy brass rim surrounding a central boss. Only three scutum shields have survived until now, but each has undergone significant restoration and reconstruction efforts.
