Roman Gladius with center support
thingiverse
I glued the original pieces together, but they didn't hold up well to stress. It broke apart. To add some extra strength, I remade it in Solidworks by designing a central channel that fits snugly around an M4 threaded rod I had on hand. The rod runs along the entire length and protrudes out of the pommel. I secured it with epoxy at one end and temporarily attached a nut to the exposed piece during the gluing process for added support. After setting, you can cut off the excess rod, but be cautious not to apply too much heat. Cutting it off with a dremel can cause the threaded rod to overheat and melt your print. I've also included the Solidworks sldprt files so you can easily remix this design yourself.
