Roman epigraph before Palatina's square
sketchfab
On the ancient Appian way to Terracina in Italy lies a Roman funerary epigraph on the left of the road, unattended and having been the target of at least three attempts of proven theft, which I have reported to the residents in the area. Dating back between 50 BC and 50 AD, the Latin text reads: [- A] tinius ((mulieris)) is a freedman named Priamus; [- A] tinius C (ai) f (ilius) Rufus is his son, also a freedman; [- A] tinius C (ai) f (ilius) Proculus is his grandson, also a freedman. The funerary epigraph belongs to them and their freedmen. Bibliography: Bulletin of the Institute of History and Art of Southern Lazio, 8, 2, 1975, pp. 23-27, with photos by U. Broccoli - AE 1978 (1) - AE 1978, 0075 (2) - HD013023 (H. Niquet) (3).
