Under Emperor Trajan, the Roman Empire expanded to its greatest size with the conquest of Dacia and the brief provinces of Mesopotamia and Armenia. Trajan's successor Hadrian concentrated on solidifying gains rather than seeking new territories. The green section is a 3D Atlas of the Roman Empire during Emperor Trajan's Reign. The front of the green section displays Roman territory in 98 CE, with each subsequent year placed behind the previous one until the end of Trajan's life in 117 CE. A faint purple outline on either side of the green section indicates the territory controlled by Rome 50 years before and after Trajan's reign, shown for added context.
