This exquisite cup hails from a Roman villa situated in S. Cucufate, Alentejo, Portugal, a region that was thriving during the High Roman Empire (circa 1st century AD to 2nd century AD). Notably, this ceramic vessel bears an importer's mark - C.A.H. - etched into its interior, signifying its origins from elsewhere. Its primary function would have been to serve and consume food, a testament to the sophistication of Roman tableware. Measuring 4.8 cm in height and 9.5 cm in diameter, this specimen showcases the mastery of ancient potters. Currently, it is proudly displayed within the permanent exhibition at the S. Cucufate Museum (Vila de Frades, Vidigueira), where it bears the catalog number CUC. 83 5230. The intricate details of this piece were meticulously captured using Reality Capture technology from a total of 431 photographs.
