The best preserved circus in Hispania is a colossal structure in the Roman world, standing tall among its counterparts. The date of its construction remains uncertain, yet it's evident that it shares a similar time frame with other two prominent buildings in the area. An inscription on display at a museum discloses the knowledge that between 337 and 340 AD, Count Tiberio Flavio Leto and Governor Julius Saturninus oversaw an impressive reconstruction of the circus, restoring it to its former glory. Strategically located on the outskirts of the city, next to Albarregas River Valley, this iconic site enjoys unparalleled accessibility and seamless communication routes. The gentle terrain slope is perfectly adapted to support a part of the grandstand. Boasting an interior area of 30,000 square meters, this marvel measures 403 meters in length and 96.50 meters in width. With an estimated seating capacity of approximately 30,000 spectators, it was an arena of choice for thousands. Constructed from sturdy concrete, a 8.5 meter-wide podium rises on a 95 cm height platform, stretching over 233 meters in length. The apex displays faint signs of majestic obelisks and decorative elements that once adorned this impressive structure. Not situated at the precise center of the arena, the southern corridor appears more expansive than its northern counterpart, reflecting an intentional design choice. Semicircular goals complement the magnificent ambiance.
