A marble sculpture of an early Imperial Roman man from the Julio-Claudian period (mid-1st century A.D.) is currently displayed in Gallery 162 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which has an accession number of 12.233 and was acquired through the Rogers Fund in 1912. Despite a thorough cleaning process, residual dark incrustation from centuries of burial remains visible on certain areas of the statue. This artwork might have been carved as a replica of a Republican-era portrait or created in that realistic style originally. The sculpture measures 14 3/8 inches (36.5 cm) in height and is classified under Stone Sculptures. This artwork is accessible for viewing at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Scans of the piece were taken using the 123DCatch app on an iPhone 5S on January 26, 2014.
