This ancient cast copper alloy Roman brooch, classified as Aesica type, hails from the 1st century AD. Discovered in a livestock enclosure section, the brooch fragment boasts a hook on its back and an unmistakable bowshape on the front, which broadens out on either side - with one intact side still sporting its decorative knop. These distinctive features empower us to accurately categorize the brooch's style and possibly even pinpoint its place of origin; the East Anglian style suggests this may have been a well-traveled item in its time.
