This logo was created by Elaine Wong for the Youth Suicide Awareness campaign "Roly-Poly Day" in Hong Kong. The campaign is spearheaded by Mr. Chan Hung, founder of Principal Chan's Free Tutorial World. A series of lead-in activities culminates with a concluding event scheduled to take place at Kowloon Park on April 7. A bit of background information: We have a failing education system in Hong Kong. I'm not talking about the quality of graduates but the alarming rate of student suicides and the trend is worsening. There's too much unnecessary pressure on students these days in Hong Kong, perhaps elsewhere as well. The most concerning issue for us is that we receive less and less media coverage, let alone proper attention from authorities. In February 2017 alone, there were seven student suicide cases reported. Last year saw a total of 35 such incidents (corrected). For a population of around 7 million, this is an alarmingly high number, especially considering the diminishing school demographic. I'm not aware of how this statistic compares to other countries or cities, but even if we had just one student suicide case, wouldn't it be "just one too many"? Let's create some Roly-Polys and encourage our students in Hong Kong and elsewhere to tackle their difficulties with courage. Life is far too beautiful and exciting to be ended this way. Print Settings: Printer Brand: CEL Printer: CEL Robox Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3 mm Infill: 20% Notes: The RoboxDual was used for printing these Roly-Polys, some of which were printed in two colors with a brim added to stabilize and adhere to the bed. Others were printed in single color using Polysupport for "support." The support option was set to "Touch Build Plate only" (no interior support). We can pause the print at around 14 mm to insert a weight piece of 27-mm dia and 5-mm thick, required for stability. The original Roly-Poly design features three different colors - representing family (red), school (yellow), and society (blue). However, a number of white ones were produced for people to draw on as they like.
