I'm testing a customizer-supported dice tray inspired by the Reddit post at https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/comments/7towmu/dice_counter_for_my_waaagh/. This prototype is designed to accommodate various sizes of dice, with options for choosing how many across and how deep the tray is. I'm currently using Chessex 12mm dice in a test configuration. To use this tray, simply pour the dice inside and gently shake it while holding it at an angle. The bottom layer tends to settle quickly, but the top layer might require some assistance to line up properly. However, this method significantly reduces the time needed for counting out large numbers of dice. Before printing a full-sized tray, I recommend creating a smaller test version (2x3x4) to gauge how your dice fit and settle. A parameter called side_fudge allows you to add extra space on each side. In my case, I printed the tray with side_fudge set to 0 and dice size at 12mm, which worked well with Chessex 12mm dice. Some cosmetic aspects are still pending attention, as this project prioritized quick functionality over aesthetics. Given that I'm already working on an automated "Shoota" that can roll multiple dice, I don't plan to further develop this tray unless someone expresses interest in using it commercially. Feel free to remix and improve the design for non-commercial purposes.
