Rolls Royce Merlin V12
thingiverse
I've decided to create a printable 3D version of the Merlin V12, since no one has attempted this project before. The main source for my model is Steen Winther's work on Grabcad, which can be found here: https://grabcad.com/library/olsryd-v12-merlin-engine-on-test-stand-1. If everything goes according to plan, I'll have a complete working motor with all internal parts rotating. However, I still have a long way to go before completion, including the gears from the gearbox to the supercharger, camshafts, crankshaft, rods, and more. I'm currently struggling to find suitable metal bearings at the correct scale for the original locations. Some parts are not labeled correctly, but I'll provide the full list as soon as my project is complete. As I make progress, I'll update this post with new photos of my build. The expected size will be approximately 1/5 scale. Update V1.01: My first piston and rod have been printed, and they look epic! To achieve finer details, I've slowed down the print speed to 0.15 mm. Now that the block is on the printing bed, I'll update this post as soon as it's finished!
