This Spool Holder was designed for the "3D Printing Nerd" competition, where it ultimately stood out from other ideas. I decided on this particular design after considering several options. It's highly versatile, as it can be easily adapted to fit any size piece of wood through its parametric nature. This means that users don't need to worry about support material or added complexity. The innovative clip system allows the spool holder to come together without any bolts, screws, or glue, making it a seamless and efficient design. Additionally, the free-rolling outer spindle ensures smooth filament delivery, eliminating the need for bearings. To accommodate different slicing software, users will need to print both inner and outer spindles as one piece; instructions on how to do this can be found within the files provided. Fusion360, STEP, and STL files are all included for user convenience. The design also features clearance added around the spool holder to prevent it from coming into contact with other spools on a shelf. I've made every effort to make this design print-friendly, allowing users to produce it in almost any rigid material using nearly any 3D printer without requiring support material.
