I crafted this mechanism for my granddaughters playhouse. You can obtain the cord illustrated from any hobby store. Simply cut an old credit card and insert it into the central body so it forms a ratchet against the gear. I utilized 22mm PVC tubing as the primary rod. It functions flawlessly!
