Roller Bearing Spool Holder for 6.5"D x 3.5" W spools for Replicator 2
thingiverse
This is a Makerbot 2 roller bearing spool holder for narrower, wider filament rolls (MatterHackers.com). Improving upon my previous design, this holder's 'top hat' shape doesn't require support during printing. Gravity keeps it together; just ensure bearings stay in place when removing a spool. Future modifications may include a part to prevent the bearings from falling out. Once accustomed, removing a spool becomes hassle-free. There are two shaft sizes for different sides of your Makerbot; use one for smaller spools and the other for this holder. Instructions: 1) Print 9 bearings without support or solid fill. 2) Print the spool holder with 'top hat' shape using medium resolution and about 10% fill. 3) Print the shaft in fine resolution and a 15% fill for strength, but note that it needs support during printing. 4) Assemble your completed parts.
