Roland Modela MDX-15 / MDX-20 interlock override
thingiverse
To bypass the safety lock on a Modela desktop milling machine, you can use this model to run the spindle without the safety shield in place. I've observed this machine at four different locations and noticed that they all operate it without the cover. Usually, they disable the interlock using tape or another makeshift method. This model offers a more reliable approach when cutting long jobs, like an 8-hour project overnight. Going with "more" likely means greater reliability, right? This is an STL file derived from the original Solidworks design provided by GrabCAD member Bettak. The STL version was created in Fusion 360 after opening the supplied Solidworks files. I obtained sheet metal bending and machining files for this model as well. Bettak graciously allowed others to download these files and use them freely. In my test print on a Makerbot Replicator X2, it performed exceptionally well. However, keep in mind that the part needs to be pushed fully into place before screwing it in, otherwise, the interlock switch might not trigger.
