Roku Stick Remote Button Replacement - Button Blanks
thingiverse
I purchased a Roku Stick about two weeks ago, and since then, I've inadvertently pressed the Now and Sling buttons more times than I can count, leading me to conclude that action is indeed necessary. Using a small flathead screwdriver, I carefully pried out the two rubber buttons that I know I'll never use. Next, I measured the opening using a caliper to determine its exact dimensions. I then used Autodesk 123d design to recreate the general shape of the button, taking care to get every detail just right. As I worked on creating a quick prototype, it dawned on me that I might need to remove the button in case someone figures out how to jailbreak the device and make those buttons useful again later. So, I created a blank version with a hole in it, precisely big enough for a thumbtack to be inserted, allowing for easy removal. I also uploaded a solid version of the design for anyone who's willing to take the plunge. Assuming your printer is accurately calibrated and prints true to size, you should be able to print these blanks and press-fit them into place with ease. As I didn't have any standard black filament on hand, I printed my Roku Stick buttons using ninjaflex instead. Furthermore, because the top surface of the button is slightly angled, I printed mine with the top surface facing downwards on the printer bed, ensuring that this surface would be smooth and free from layer lines. If your first layer doesn't turn out well, you can simply print it upside down and sand it smooth if desired.
