Rodin Vortex Coil Frame REV C
thingiverse
Hello everyone! This is my concept design for a frame that houses a Rodin Vortex Coil. It's a magnetic device used for wireless charging, speaker magnets, Mag Levs, and other applications. The design consists of 12 parts: eleven lugs and one center hub. I've updated this version to include radial channels on the lugs to accommodate cable or zip ties. To construct this Rodin Vortex Coil, you'll need: A 3D printer with a print space of 220x220x240mm capable of printing in FDM style. 2kg of PLA filament in your chosen color. Two reels of 24AWG magnet wire, each 500ft long and wound together at 60ft, with 12 winds. Zip ties or elastic bands to secure the coil's strands on the eleven lugs. Enjoy! UPDATE: June 8th I used 720ft of 22AWG magnet wire and braided it into 12 strands for a total length of 60ft. Winding the coil was quite an experience - the cut channels for the zip ties proved to be little monsters on my fingers throughout most of the process. Still, it works beautifully and looks fantastic! Enjoy, and stay tuned for more updates!
