Rodholder Challenge Entry - Wood Composite v2
grabcad
The updated rodholder design features a repositioned clamp/adjustment knob beneath the baseplate for enhanced aesthetics. This revision also eliminates the need for welding, unlike the original baseplate. A threaded adjustment knob can be sourced or machined. The innovative wood laminate structure secures the fishing rod while offering easy angle adjustments and versatility across different canoe gunwale configurations with sufficient overhang. This eco-friendly design uses bio-resin epoxy for bonding, is weather resistant, and complements Trapper Canoe aesthetics. Clear or colored finishes can be applied to the wood. The base plate, made from stainless steel sheet metal, serves as a spring to maintain pressure on the canoe hull; plastic coatings prevent scratches at contact points. Recycled materials are used for rubber feet and bushings, with commercial availability for washers, bolts, and knobs to keep costs low. The dimensions are 124mm wide at the lowest point of the base plate and 290mm from the highest point to the top of the gunwale.
