Rodholder
grabcad
The proposed rod holder design for Trapper Canoes' contest features an array of materials for construction, namely wood, aluminum, cork, and stainless steel bolts and screws. These materials were selected due to their specific properties; cork is 35% compressible, moisture-resistant, environmentally friendly, and adds color to rubber parts, while wood is hard, strong, durable, and aesthetically pleasing. Aluminum is lightweight and robust, recyclable, stainless steel screws are rustproof and standardized, and the fabricated one-piece shackle screws, holder screw, and base screw are made of stainless steel with polished knobs. The rod holder design also includes aluminum plugs for better clamping force distribution and a base screw that rotates 360 degrees to accommodate right-handed users. Shackle screw feet can adjust themselves according to the canoe's contour and feature cork patches to prevent damage. The wood components need varnishing, while leather, rubber, or a thin layer of cork can be used to line the holder's interior. The design is easy to machine and aligns with Trapper Canoes' brand values by using eco-friendly materials to create a robust, visually appealing, and weather-resistant product.
