RodCNC v1.5 This CNC is a complete redesign and improvement over the popular DremelCNC. While including a more sturdy Axis, it is designed to be cost-effective. This one was designed to use a 500w ER11 spindle instead of a Dremel. I have assembled and used the V1.0 of this CNC. I made some improvements since, but I haven't found the time to reprint the v1.5. So, be aware that you will probably be the first to print the v1.5. I included a .step file to help while assembling. You can also remix as you wish! To get this CNC up and running, you need to print: 1x Y_axis_holder_front_left.stl 1x Y_axis_holder_front_right.stl 1x Y_axis_holder_rear_left.stl 1x Y_axis_holder_rear_right.stl 1x Y_carriage_holder_left.stl 1x Y_carriage_holder_right.stl 1x X_carriage.stl 1x Z_carriage.stl 3x Motor_spacer.stl The wood base: The most important thing is the wood base. Dimension of the MDF panel: 405mm x 490mm Thickness: 5/8" (15.875mm) OR 3/4". You need to select the right set of Y holders accordingly. Default: 5/8". For 3/4", it's the four stl that ends by "3-4inch". Material: MDF Note: If you can't find a 5/8" or 3/4" tick wood base, I can produce Y_holders with another tickness. Just ask me :) BOM: - 500w ER11 spindle: https://www.banggood.com/Machifit-ER11-Chuck-CNC-500W-Spindle-Motor-with-52mm-Clamps-and-Power-Supply-Speed-Governor-p-1027937.html?cur_warehouse=CN - I've used the MKS DLC board with MKS TB67S109 drivers. However, I suggest a board that has 4 stepper drivers instead of 3. I am losing power by having only one driver for my two Y axis steppers. - 4x NEMA17 steppers. I suggest the highest torque nema17 you can find. - PC fan to cool the electronics (I've used a 80mm fan). - (optional): Three endstops board for RAMPS. - 2x 12mm x 500mm rods (Y axis) - 2x 12mm x 400mm rods (X axis) - 2x 12mm x 165mm rods (Z axis) - 2x 8mm x 520mm lead screws (Y axis) - 1x 8mm x 420mm lead screw (X axis) - 1x 8mm x 165mm lead screw (Z axis) - I've used 2mm-lead for the lead screws. Quite slow but strong. You can increase that a little if you want. - 12x LM12UU linear bearings - 10x F608ZZ bearings - 5x SCS8 8mm ring collar (I've used 8mmx25mmx10mm) - 4x Couplers (5mm to 8mm) - 4x Anti-backlash lead screw nuts: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32779170423.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dvuaYYs - M3 screws. Various length. PlEASE REFER TO THE .STEP FILE ASSEMBLY BEFORE ORDERING PARTS. THIS BUILD IS FOR ADVANCED USERS. Changelog: - 2021-12-21: Added a 3/4" version of Y holders. - 2022-01-05: Added a 21mm version of Y holders.
