Rod/Pipe Drilling Fixture
thingiverse
A straightforward device for drilling accurately centered holes in round stock. The largest hole that can be drilled is 3/8". To align this fixture to a drill press, use a 3/8" piece of round stock or a 3/8" drill bit. This will provide the most precise alignment possible. Check out the photos for reference. Included clamping fingers are designed for various rod sizes; however, I have included the Fusion file if you want to create custom-sized rods. Visit my maker channel on YouTube at www.youtube.com/c/makersmic. Materials Used: (6) M4 x 20mm bolts (6) M4 washers (1) 1/4-20 x 1-3/4" hex head bolt (a 2" bolt can also be used) (1) 1/4-20 washer (1) 1/4-20 wing nut Assembling the device is straightforward once all the parts are printed. I mounted my assembly on a piece of scrap oak from a previous project, so feel free to attach this fixture to whatever works for your needs. Be cautious when dealing with heat generated by the part you're drilling into, and you should be fine.
