Rod Mitre Box v2
thingiverse
This is version 2 of my upgraded rod mitre box design. I aimed to create a setup where using a hacksaw to cut soft steel rods could be done with both hands, so I made significant improvements over the previous model. Here's what changed: * The height of the miter box was reduced to match the base thickness plus the diameter, making it possible to secure the rod in place with a clamp. * Each side of the notch is now elevated by a small amount, serving as a guide for your saw blade. * The notch itself has been recessed 1mm into the base, allowing you to cut all the way through the rod without any issues. * You can now specify separate thicknesses for both the walls and the base of the miter box. * There are three screw holes distributed along the base that enable you to attach it to a scrap piece of work or your workbench; this setup, combined with a clamp on the rod, allows you to use both hands when sawing. You can disable these screw holes by setting the screw diameter to 0. * A horizontal clearance option has been added to facilitate easier use of this tool.
