A segment of a 30-meter belt transect of rocky reef is taken as part of an extensive survey focusing on barrel sponges and their substrate in the Cabrits marine park, Dominica. The images utilized for this model are drawn from a shared-task dataset used for ImageCLEFcoral 2019-21. Participants develop advanced deep learning algorithms to accurately annotate 13 distinct types of biological substrate based on comprehensive training data provided. The data was captured using a sophisticated 5-camera array in a single pass, taking approximately 2 minutes, resulting in a total of 300 images taken at timed intervals.
