Rockets!!
thingiverse
I've always had a bit of a fascination with rockets. Growing up during the space age was a thrilling experience. I got to witness the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions launch into the sky as a kid. My father's company was even involved in building the Apollo capsules and the Space Shuttle. On Family Day, I got to see the scorched remains of Apollo Command Capsules that had just returned from space. I wrote to NASA with hand-written letters sent via postal mail and received cool posters featuring rockets and planets. I also got to sit in mockups of the Space Shuttle cockpit during my high school years, long before it took flight. My fondness for rockets has followed me into adulthood. In my 3D printing experiments, I discovered that imagined rockets were perfectly suited for fast single-walled "spiralized" prints. They looked cool and effectively exposed weaknesses in my printer, making them ideal test subjects. As a result, I ended up printing a lot of rockets to fine-tune my printer's performance. My grandson recently opened his own store and found that the most popular items were actually my old rocket/test prints. It just goes to show how well-designed rockets can be both functional and appealing. With their sleek designs, they're well-suited for fast, single-wall "spiralized" (or "vase mode") prints. Additionally, if you push your printer's speed limits, rockets can help identify potential faults in your device.
