How do you think I look? You appear to be staring at a hood ornament. This was one of my favorite movies growing up. After finishing, this helmet is now as accurate as possible. I printed the helmet in one go. The fin was printed in separate pieces with registration so they fit together tightly. The lenses were made by forming the negative space in the helmet and sculpting it with modeling clay. A piece of acrylic was heated and placed on top of a vacuform I built for this project. (If you'd like to use this tool, let me know; I'll be happy to upload the files.) The lenses were then tinted using plain old window tint and attached with rivets. When finishing mine, I sanded off the old rivet locations on the model and opted instead to use the pile of rivets in my shop. Finally, I purchased some brown quilted material from the fabric store and sewed the liner and attached the chin strap; which I made from a strip of leather and a push button. The welds on the finished helmet were created with hot glue. Painted to look like a weld, these were put down in a solid line on top of wax paper, split in two and then glued to either side of the fin where it meets the helmet portion.
