This process is known as long-term potentiation, or LTP. By studying how the brain changes in response to learning, scientists hope to gain a better understanding of how humans learn and remember new information. Overall, the human brain's ability to adapt and change in response to injury or disease makes it one of the most remarkable organs in the body. By continuing to study this process, scientists may be able to develop new treatments for a range of neurological disorders and improve our understanding of how the brain works.
