Basic rock is often defined as a type of igneous rock that forms from the cooling and solidification of magma deep within the Earth's crust. It can also be created when lava cools quickly on the surface, resulting in small crystals or even glassy textures. The term "basic" refers to the fact that these rocks have relatively low silica content compared to other types of igneous rock.
